The FAQ's section of the Buffalo Aquifer website has been updated.  Under the tab of "Documents and Resources" you can find  new content for  land use suggestions and avoidance of Aquifer contamination.

In April, 2011, Well #7 in our South Buffalo Aquifer Well-field was sealed and the well building demolished. This project was completed successfully with the assistance of LTP Enterprises, Inc., of Fargo, North Dakota. Attached are several pictures of Well #7 being sealed. The completion of this project removes an entry point for contamination to the highly-sensitive Aquifer and helps preserve the water quality of the Aquifer for future generations. Funding for the sealing of the well was provided by the Minnesota Department of Health

On December 15th, 2010 Moorhead Public Service received a Source Water Protection Implementation Grant from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) for approximately $7,000.

The $7,000 provided by MDH will fund two activities: the sealing of an unused well at our highway ten well field location on the buffalo aquifer, and enhancement of this website.  We will also be conducting public meetings for public input into our aquifer management plan.  More information to come!
